It has been a long time since I posted any clothing items I made. I made this dress for the VOP Rock and Fashion Show.

Lace Dress

I am thinking about clothing again. I have a few things in mind that I will post here in the future.

I'm having a crummy week so I'm just going to post pictures of cupcakes I made and a perfect orange I cut up last week.

Polka Dot Dress

I'm trying to be better about taking pictures of what I wear. It was super windy in Iowa City Friday and we were in a big hurry because we were running late but here is my polka dot dress.

My hair has jumped the shark but I probably won't dye it again until I get my hair cut again so I guess I will just have to deal with that.

Bigger pictures and a picture of the back are under the cut.

This is the biggest bow I have made up to this point )
True fact: This dress stands up on its own when thrown in the corner of my bedroom.

Cotton Candy Hair

In March I changed my hair color. I'm just now getting around to posting a picture.

It is blue on top, pink underneath, and the dye is bleeding a bit so there is some purple fade between the layers now.

My New(ish) Hair

I don't ever think about my hair - it isn't an unusual color to me, it is just what I look like (and extremely appropriate for me if you ask anyone that has known me in the last 10 years). So it is always funny to me when I am out and I hear kids oohing over my hair. It isn't just little girls, little boys love it too. I can't imaging how many parents are frustrating trying to explain to their kids that they can't have blue and/or pink hair too.

It has been way too long since I have posted any pictures on here.

Last night I made a Raspberry Marshmallow Tart:

The crust needed to be sweeter but other wise is was pretty good.

I don't go thrifting very often, but when I do I love looking at the old records and I have a tendency to collect the ones with great cover art. When I was cleaning today, I found a stash that I bought a couple years ago.

I want to cover my walls in record sleeves )

I found out yesterday that I can pattern, cut, and sew a shirt in an afternoon. That is a good thing to know.

Austin Trip - Bonus Week

Kris and I had an invitation from our Austin friend Mark to stay at his place for "as long as we want." We ended up staying a week. Well, technically it was Monday night through Friday night.

I don't remember what we did on which days for the most part so I will just give a sweeping summary of the highlights. )

So that's it! I hope next year is as much fun as this year.

Forever ago (back in June) I posted that I was going to make a dress inspired by this one:

I loved the dress, but the fabrics weren't really my style.

Click here if you missed Maker Faire Trip Pt. 1

The stories continue! )

So that is the end of Maker Faire. The people at Maker Faire are some of the most amazing people on this planet and I can't wait to see them again (if not in San Mateo, again in Austin next year).

I'm going to end Pt. 2 here and I'll post about the rest of our trip in a day or two.

The Maker Faire trip ended up being a big adventure! I don't know how to break up the trip so I'm just going to write until I get tired of writing.

Maker Faire, I'm on my way! )

That's the end of Saturday night. I think I will end Part 1 here. Part 2 will come along soon.

I'm going to try to fill in all my photo posts that I have been planning. The first post is for Tour de'Loo which is a night organized to show the community what changes are being made in downtown Waterloo. Downtown Waterloo has been pretty run down for years and in the last 5 years there has been a push to renovate all the old buildings.

I have my sticker on and I'm ready to go! )

Maker Faire - Maker's Day )
I know Kris and I were 'paparazzied' tonight so we will probably be showing up in the flickr photos tagged 'Maker Faire Austin 2008'. Just look for the pink hair and Kid Pirate mummy boy t-shirt.

We've never been the type of girls to dress up our animals.

Until the day I found sailor collars at Target.

The moon has been very bright the last few nights so last night I went outside to take pictures! The only picture that turned out well enough to post was a picture of the back of my house.

I took this with my point and shoot camera - I used the longest night time exposure I could. I didn't do anything to adjust the brightness or color of this picture.

The way the shadows have been make it look like we should be shooting episodes of Spin and Marty in my backyard.

A trip to the country!

Last weekend I went to a family reunion (my mom's side of the family) in Indiana. It was at my grandparent's house.

The House in the Country!

What you need to know!
- They live on 6 acres in Indiana
- My grandpa was a hobby pilot. He built a 2 seater airplane in their garage when my mom was a kid. He doesn't fly now because of he didn't pass the eye sight test. He does still make remote control airplanes.
- My grandma's main hobby is weaving. She has a bunch of looms.
- On the property there is a house, a garage, a studio, a shed, and a falling down barn.

Seriously Picture Heavy! )

I purchased a 50 yard bolt of muslin to use making test fits and mock shirts for my men's line. This time I mean it.
